60 Years of Safeguarding the Irreplaceable

Thanks to the incredible dedication of our supporters and the around-the-clock commitment of our team, World Monuments Fund has successfully helped preserve over 700 heritage sites around the globe since 1965.

A Monumental Anniversary

Heritage sites are more than just historical landmarks. They stand as living records of our human experience. Historic monuments and cultural landscapes capture the creativity, achievements, and cultural identities of the communities that built them. They are places where people come together to learn, worship, conduct business, and enjoy, all while reinforcing a sense of reverence, connection, and belonging.

Throughout our anniversary year in 2025, we are excited to celebrate these successes and the importance of our mission while looking to the future of heritage preservation.

“Around the World in 60 Nights”

At the center of this celebratory year is an extraordinary global journey: “Around the World in 60 Nights.” This year-long anniversary program consists of 60 exceptional dinners, receptions, and gatherings hosted by leading WMF supporters that are designed to build awareness of WMF’s impact and celebrate the importance of heritage preservation at large.

Notable celebrations will be organized at iconic historic places such as Windsor Castle, United Kingdom; Versailles, France; and the Alhambra, Spain. The culmination of our activities will be WMF’s 60th Anniversary Hadrian Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur in October 2025.

WMF International Council members get priority access to Around the World in 60 Nights, depending on availability.
