Join WMF France on Wednesday, January 15 for an evening celebrating the launch of the 2025 World Monuments Watch, WMF's biennial selection of 25 treasured heritage places around the world facing urgent challenges and timely opportunities for preservation.

Hosted by Bernard Beignier, Chancellor of the Universities of Paris and Île-de-France, and WMF France Executive Director Mathilde Augé, this event will take place at the iconic Amphithéâtre Liard at the Sorbonne in Paris. Following a screening of the 2025 Watch announcement, the evening will welcome an array of speakers discussing the importance of heritage conservation and the stories of select sites on the 2025 Watch.  

The Watch announcement event will be followed by a cocktail reception in Salle des Autorités at 47, rue des Ecoles 75005 Paris.  

Attendance to this exciting event is by reservation only.

About the Speakers

  • Bernard Beignier

    Chancellor of the Universities of Paris and Île-de-France

    Bernard Beignier, university professor, was appointed chancellor of the région académique Ile-de-France, chancellor of the l’académie de Paris by the Council of Ministers on April 3, 2024.

    Since December 2014, he has been chancellor of the l’académie d’Aix-Marseille as well as chancellor of the région académique Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, following the territorial reform of 2015. Previously he was chancellor of the l'académie d'Amiens (2012-2014) and dean of the law faculty of the l’université Toulouse–Capitole. Holder of several DEAs (business law, general private law, procedural law) and a state doctorate in law, Bernard Beignier is an associate professor of private law and criminal sciences. Professor at Toulouse-Capitole University since 1993, he has taught at the higher notarial centers for professional training in Paris and Toulouse.

  • Mathilde Augé

    WMF France Executive Director

    Mathilde Augé, an art historian, joined World Monuments Funds in 2023 to become the representative in France. Prior to joining WMF, she directed the cultural programming at the French Institute Alliance Française In New York, curating programs in performing and visual arts as well as conversations on heritage and preservation. Previously, she worked in publishing for different French publishing houses such as Gallimard and Presses Universitaires de France in Paris. A former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Ulm), she has a Master in art history from the University Panthéon Sorbonne and a master’s in Media, Art and Creation from HEC Paris.
