As part of the exhibition Heritage in Peril, this round table, hosted by journalist Céline Argento, brings together experts from ALIPH, the Musée du Louvre, and World Monuments Fund.

They will present the progress of the rehabilitation project of the Mosul Cultural Museum, one of the most important museums in Iraq, which bore witness to the multicultural and multireligious history of the country. Severely damaged in 2015 by Daesh, this museum is now the subject of an international effort to rebuild and restore its exceptional collection, in collaboration with Iraqi experts.

Come and discover this ambitious project, a symbol of hope for the preservation of heritage in peril.

The discussion is free with reservation. It will be held in French and will be moderated by Céline Argento, journalist.

Mosul Cultural Museum

The second-largest museum in Iraq, the Mosul Cultural Museum (MCM) is an iconic work by leading Iraqi modernist Mohamed Makiya and one of the city’s few existing modernist structures. Its elegant galleries contain artifacts that testify to thousands of years of the region’s rich history, earning the museum the name “the soul of Mosul.”
